Short Bio for Anthony Marzano – amarzano@willcountyillinois.com
Anthony Marzano is currently Deputy Director for Operations at the Will County Emergency Management Agency in Joliet, Illinois, managing seven of the Agency’s special response teams in addition to his emergency planning duties. Mr. Marzano currently Chairs the Illinois Search and Rescue Council, and represents the State of Illinois on the National Association for Search & Rescue’s State & Federal SAR Coordination Committee. He is a member of the ASTM F32 Committee on National Search & Rescue Standards, and teaches SAR throughout the Midwest. Mr. Marzano is a graduate of the US Air Force National Search & Rescue School, and is the recipient of NASAR’s 2007 US State & Canadian Provincial SAR Award.
Mr. Marzano is a Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management & Homeland Security from Jacksonville State University.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Began dog training in 1971 with AKC obedience Started   Schutzhund (German protection dog
sport) in 1975 and earned a “Schutzhund I” title. Founded and was Training director of
California Rescue Dog Association, Inc. in 1977 and earned “Mission Ready “ status with the
Swiss Disaster Dog Association. From 1978 -1980 assisted the Davis, CA. Police department as
a volunteer police dog team. Operational member of Dogs East 1982.to 1997. Have responded to
numerous National and International disasters and helped  FEMA develop their criteria for   
FEMA Disaster Task Force dog teams.  Have delivered many seminars on Search and Rescue,
Disaster and Cadaver search dogs. Advise Search and rescue teams nationally and
internationally. Founder and President of Applied Technologies, K9 training director of FEMA
Virginia Task Force 2, responsible for  developing the K9 component.
